A five-day workshop for Michigan social studies teachers that would examine the history of the women's suffrage movement in the United States.

Central Michigan University and the Michigan Women’s Historical Center propose a professional development workshop for social studies teachers on the history of the women’s suffrage movement. In a five day summer workshop and three days of follow up, we will discuss the history of the movement. This workshop will address the topic through readings of primary sources drawn from the time , through examination of artifacts, and in discussions led by scholars who specialize in this movement. In addition, music from the time, documentaries, and dramatic portrayals will add to the seminar. Each teacher participant will be required to work on an individual project that will then be used as part of a traveling exhibition created by the group.
