This project is intended to be a comprehensive dictionary of philosophical terms used in the Islamic tradition. The book will be the first of its kind in English and cover the major philosophical terms used and developed by both Muslim and Jewish and Christian thinkers who produced works in Arabic. Organized in alphabetical order, the dictionary will contain entries with short definitions and longer discussions. The entries will analyze the historical formation and significance of terms and their evolution from one school of thought to another. The pool of entries will be drawn from the major intellectual schools in Islamic thought. The dictionary is intended to be a reference work for advanced students of medieval Islamic thought as well as for a general reader.
