Consultation and additional scholarly research for an exhibition exploring the history of Rochester, New York.

The Rochester Historical Society seeks support to utilize the expertise of three distinguished historians and curators to prepare a research plan for achieving our new interpretive mission: to tell the story of Greater Rochester's people, places, and distinctive qualities as an American city through a major new exhibiton and related programs. It is a new mission for Rochester's oldest museum and archives (1860) that has amassed the largest collection of our community's heritage, but who has failed to share its lessons in any meaningful way. It reflects the strategic goals of the Society's new Board and professional staff who wish to set a new standard for telling the story of our city within the context of the American urban experience.
