The development and delivery of six workshops on digital preservation methods for 150 archivists, librarians, and other cultural heritage professionals, aimed particularly at those from small and medium-sized institutions.

This proposal seeks Endowment support for the presentation of a minimum of six one-day workshops (half in 2015 and half in 2016) across the United States, providing a minimum of 150 archivists and librarians with intensive, practical hands-on skills and advocacy tools that fill gaps often experienced by those trying to translate digital preservation and curation theory into actual practices. Although other digital preservation programs currently exist, the Library of Congress and the National Digital Stewardship Alliance note that they are insufficient to meet demand and are not always aimed at this particular audience. If Endowment support becomes available, the proposed program's staff members will use this existing curriculum, revising and improving it as necessary to reflect new developments in this rapidly-changing field. We seek in particular to bring this workshop to information professionals at smaller, less financially secure institutions.
