The project would engage a conservator to examine the collection and its storage conditions, and determine the knowledge of the staff concerning preservation matters. The conservator will then prepare a report on institutional policies and procedures, fire protection and security concerns, and provide recommendations for improving storage and handling practices and establishing conservation priorities. A general preservation survey report will serve as a key component for future grant applications to secure funding to implement recommendations and for solicitation of donations for completing the conservation work of key items in the collection. |
