Michigan Technological University will purchase supplies and equipment to address several preservation threats identified through a general preservation needs assessment completed in September 2006. This project will address five areas of concern: cleaning the collections, monitoring temperature and humidity levels in the collections, measurement and mitigation of visible and ultraviolet light levels, implementation of a first-phase pest management program, and the purchase of disaster preparedness supplies in accordance with an updated emergency response plan. In addition to installation of tangible equipment and supplies, the plan of work will include development and update of workflow and policy documents for the project to clean the collections, as well as ongoing environmental monitoring, pest management and disaster preparedness programs. |
