A preservation assessment and training for staff of the Mountain Home Historical Museum, which collects and maintains agricultural, mining, and ranching artifacts as well as maps and county records that document the history of Idaho and the West.

With the proposed Preservation Assistance Grant, the City of Mountain Home Historical Museum will conduct a preservation assessment of the museum's collections. The museum will also host a preservation workshop on-site. The museum's collections are historical in context and interpret the rich history and culture of Mountain Home, Idaho, and the surrounding region. The collections include an estimated 3,480 three-dimensional artifacts as well as a large collection of archival documents, photographs, newspapers, and maps. The goal of the preservation assessment is to take the information from the assessment and develop a long-range plan for the preservation of the museum's collections, as well as develop a policy for proper management of the collections. The goal of the on-site preservation workshop is to train staff, volunteers, and museum professionals in surrounding areas on how to properly care for humanities collections.
