People Inc. proposes to obtain materials and equipment to implement recommendations made in a preservation assessment for our Museum of disABILITY History. People Inc. and our Museum received a Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 2004. This grant enabled us to secure the services of a Field Services Representative from the Northeast Document Conservation Center. The Representative conducted a preservation assessment of the Museum's collection and provide a series of recommendations on actions and activities the Museum should consider. People Inc. and the Museum subsequently has implemented several of these recommendations between 2005 and 2006. Some recommendations still need to be completed to ensure the proper preservation of sensitive materials as well as to help prepare for disasters. People Inc., on behalf of our Museum, requests $5,000 to implement these improvements |
