The development of an emergency preparedness and response plan for the Athenaeum, a member-supported special collections library founded in 1814, which serves as a global resource of first resort on matters of architecture and design history. Its collections consist of 200,000 architectural drawings representing the work of 2,500 architects and builders, 300,000 architectural photographs, and a rare book and reference collection of approximately 100,000 volumes.

The Athenaeum of Philadelphia, a special collections and research library with a focus on architectural and design history, is requesting a Preservation Assistance Grant of $6,000 to develop an Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Plan. As a first step in development of the plan, the Athenaeum will work with a consultant from the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts on the preparation of a Vulnerability Assessment with recommendations for mitigation for most likely risk factors. Second, the consultant will develop and write the Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Plan.
