Hiring a consultant to conduct training for museum staff and develop a plan for improving collection storage, as well as the purchase of dataloggers to monitor the facility's environmental conditions. The Ute Pass Historical Society possesses a collection of over 10,000 artifacts documenting the history of native Ute people, settlement of Ute Pass communities in the 1860s, and the history of the Colorado Midland Railway from the 1880s through the 1940s.

The activities the grant would support are storage planning, training, and guided implementation in environmental upgrades in storage. We will purchase storage furniture, conservation sound storage supplies, and conduct on site training. The topic was identified as our institution's highest priority in the Conservation Assessment Program report of March 2009. (See supporting documentation CAP report.)
