The Michigan Humanities Council will issue an RFP for proposals that recognize Michigan’s identity as an “inclusive identity,” i.e., one that has faced questions of difference throughout its ethnic, political, economic, creative, labor, and regional relationships. Proposals will address Michigan’s struggle with questions of identity by engaging the tensions that make Michigan a microcosm of forces that shape America. The following terms should anchor proposals: urban vs. rural; local vs. state; state vs. federal; ethnicity; regionalism; identity; conflict; federalism, and nationalism. |
