To support the 2009 Chautauqua whose theme is "That's Entertainment;" Read from the Start, the Council's family reading program; the Literature and Medicine program on humanities and healthcare; the traveling exhibition,"New Harmonies;" and a special event and program on Thomas Hart Benton, a Missouri native and one of the artists represented in NEH's Picturing America initiative.

Exploring American culture through engaging & enlightening formats: Chautauqua as way to discover connections & gain greater understanding of fellow Americans; reading & discussion with family reading programs for new Americans & underserved populations, & illuminating the issues of healthcare workers & the people served through discussion of literary works through Literature & Medicine; acknowledging & celebrating American art & music & the influence these have had on the American culture.
