In 2009, OCH will enter the final year of its borders and boundaries initiative that examines how the humanities, through American history and culture, creates opportunities to talk about and reflect on ideas of nation and state, race, class, gender and community. In Oregon—a state with deep urban-rural divides reflected in our politics, culture, and sense of personal identity—borders and boundaries will help bridge the real and imagined spaces that both unite and divide our communities.
