The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson, and America, 1801-1861

Two one-week workshops for 80 school teachers held at The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home, on major themes in nineteenth-century American history.

The Hermigage, Home of President Andrew jackson, and Middle Tennessee State University propose to partner in offering two sessions of a one-week workshop for teachers titled "The Hermitage, Andrew jackson and America 1801-1861. The workshops will consist of three primary elements: lectures followed by discussion groups, a variety of field study sessions examining the material culture of early nineteenth-century America, and time devoted to planning educational projects. Workshop participants will be expected to complete a set of readings prior to the beginning of the workshop.
