James Madison and Constitutional Citizenship

Two one-week workshops for 100 school teachers on James Madison's role in the creation of the U.S. Constitution, held at Montpelier, Madison's home.

The Montpelier Foundation is seeking funding to conduct two seven-day "Landmarks of American History: Workshops for School Teachers" seminars that will occur during the summer of 2008. The Workshop -- James Madison and Constitutional Citizenship -- will combine advanced scholarship on Madison and the Constitution, paired with an examination of James Madison's Montpelier as one of the central sites in the creation of the American Constitution. The workshop will be offered back-to-back, at James Madison's Montpelier and at Woodberry Forest School, utilizing the same university-level experts each week.
