Purchase and renovation of historic Turners Hall as the new Humanities Center for the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and endowment for expanded humanities programming.

The LEH has launched a three-year,$4.385 million capital campaign for capital projects and programs endowment to enable the LEH to (1) Complete purchase and conversion of the historic Humanities Center at Turners Hall into a state-of-the-art, economically self-sustaining statewide Learning Center, including multi-use auditorium and seminar rooms equipped with the Internet, presentation and compressed video-conferencing technology to train PRIME TIME family literacy participants, Advanced Teacher Institutes (including “Teaching American History” seminars under a $1 million U.S. Dept. of Education grant) and other humanities programs; and (2) Create operating endowment for expanded statewide humanities programing.
