The W.F. Albright Institute for Archaeological Research is seeking an NEH Challenge Grant as part of its campaign to endow a new senior fellowship, to be named the Seymour Gitin Senior Research Professor in honor of its long-time director, and to renovate and endow its hostel located in a historic landmark structure which primarily serves the fellows who participate in the Albright's programs. With a commitment from the Dorot Foundation contingent on the Albright's success with this Challenge Grant, the hostel will be renamed the Joy Gottesman Ungerleider Hostel. Located in Jerusalem, the Albright represents more than a century of outstanding research conducted by American scholars in such diverse fields as biblical and Near Eastern archaeology, linguistic, philological and text-based studies, ancient history, art history, and anthropology. These two campaign goals will allow the Albright to maintain its position as the premier American research center in the Middle East. |
