Endowing Education Leadership for the Future at the Walters Art Museum
Endowment for key humanities education positions.
The Walters Art Museum requests a $750,000 challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to be matched by $2,250,000 in private contributions to endow two key humanities staff positions, the Director of Education and Public Programs and the Manager of School Programs. This permanent endowment funding will ensure the Walters' continued leadership in serving audiences, using its collection to advance public understanding of history, human culture, and social issues from the ancient past through the present day. The NEH Challenge grant is part of the larger Walters endowment campaign. With a preliminary goal of $10 million in Education Endowment, the Education objectives include funding the positions proposed for NEH Challenge support, other education staff positions, and programs. The cultivation and solicitation of individuals is proceeding and museum staff fully expect to raise the required NEH match by December 2014.
