American Foreign Policy 1887-1945: Overseas Expansion and Foreign Wars

The development of web-based lesson plans and interactive exercises to engage high school students in the study of a formative period in the development of American foreign policy.

The Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs at Ashland University proposes to create a series of 31 academically rigorous web-based high school level U. S. history lesson plans and associated interactive student exercises covering the study of American Foreign Policy from 1887 to 1945. The completed lesson plans will be made available on-line at either NEH's EDSITEment or on the Ashbrook Center's web site, TeachingAmericanHistory.org. This project to create lesson plans relating to American diplomatic history will provide a comprehensive resource, having a significant impact on the study of American history at the high school level nationwide.
