PROGRAM IN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION AT POMONA COLLEGE
To introduce 2 new, first-year foreign-language courses and a new type of first-year composition course. During the pilot year French and German will be the two foreign languages studied in the program. Courses will be team-taught by 2 linguists who are foreign language specialists, a logician, and a rhetorician. The College's language laboratory will also be used extensively. Aim will be to insure that first-year students be given the opportunity to develop articulateness in English and basic literacy in a foreign language.
