To implement a model curriculum, consisting of short literary works to demonstrate the value of fiction in the teaching of introductory MPA and Government courses to John Jay students. A core of short stories, poems, and personal essays will be integrated into the public administration curriculum to A) complement the more traditional course materials and teaching methodologies to assist John Jay's non-traditional students in mastering the theory and principles of administration, B) emphasize the "human element" lacking in administrative studies, C) close the gap between administrative theory and practice by providing more appealing source material, and D) reassert the importance of the humanistic perspective in career-oriented discipline.
