Essays on Slavic Mythology and Oral Tradition
During the tenure period I plan to complete a book that investigates the links between Slavic mythology and Slavic oral traditions. Although I include data from all three Slavic groups, the study focuses on the traditional songs collected in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1934-35 and held now in the Milman Parry Collection of Oral Literature at Harvard University. Concurrently, I plan to finish a thematic database for the approximately 11,000 ballads and lyric songs from the same collection. This database is to be published as a CD-ROM and will serve as the first electronic research resource in the field of South Slavic folklore.
