CRIME AND PUNISHMENT IN AMERICA
Seminar to survey the changing views in the United States concerning the use of punishment as retribution and as a means of controlling crime. Readings, drawn from sociology, law, psychiatry, and history will stress the historical growth of ideas in this area and encompass a wide range of intellectual positions.
