Antebellum State Constitutions in the Old Northwest
The purpose of my project is to examine the political, geographic, social, and ideological forces that shaped constitution-making in the states formed from the Northwest Territory before the Civil War. A summer stipend from the NEH will allow me to complete the research for a scholarly book on antebellum midwestern state constitutions.
