I am writing a book designed to be the definitive critical study of Dr. Seuss. In it, I analyze the ideological, cultural, and artistic implications of Dr. Seuss through six defining features: his verse, his politics, his art, the vast creative output beyond his best-selling children's books, the marketing of his work, and his place in the American public imagination. I also include an annotated listing of literary criticism and interviews, and the first complete bibliography of Seuss's works, which include paintings, screenplays, essays, verse, forty short stories, over sixty books, and several thousand cartoons. My book re-evaluates Seuss's known works and brings to light Seuss's largely unknown contributions to the Humanities. |
