The Magic Doe: A Translation of Qutban's Mirigavati
I am applying for two months of summer support to finish a verse translation of Qutban's Mirigavati, a Hindavi Sufi romance from 1503. This text has never before been translated into English and is a paradigmatic work for an entire Indian Islamic literary tradition. It should be a popular textbook in courses on South Asian Islam, comparative literature and religions, and Indian cultural and literary history.
