As part of Mission San Juan Capistrano's Five-Year Strategic Plan, the museum facilities will be upgraded and the collections preserved. To this end, the Mission recently participated in the Conservation Assessment Program (CAP), hiring the conservator John Griswold to carry out a general conservation assessment. One of the high-priority recommendations made by Mr. Griswold in his final report included upgrading storage facilities. If awarded, this grant will cover an initial, yet very important phase of improving collections storage by providing cabinetry and shelving, preservation supplies, environmental monitoring equipment, and training. |
