Reformatting and Cataloging Audio Recordings in Archives of the Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation
Preserving, cataloging, and digitizing analog sound recordings that date from 1957 to the present and the creation of a bilingual online database for access.
Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation, CPRDP, created the Angel F. Rivera Documentation Center, providing state-of-the-art conservation, cataloging & digitization of all recordings created by the CPRDP for the last 50 years. The center shelters four principal archives: Historical Archive, News Archive, Radio Archive & the Videotheque. At present, CPRDP is focused on achieving the integration of all the information systems in order to facilitate the access & management of the contents of the vast collection. The project submitted to the NEH for funding focuses on the Radio Archive allowing the preservation, cataloging & digitizing of recordings dating back to 1957 as well as the creation of an online database for professional access.
