Creation of the third edition of the "Guide to Documentary Editing."

The NEH funded the first edition of the Association for Documentary Editing’s (ADE) Guide to Documentary Editing in 1981. A revision appeared in 1998, and for nearly twenty years, the Guide has been invaluable for scholarly editors, editors-in-training, readers of documentary editions and other students of American history and literature. As the time nears for a third edition of the Guide, it is clear that conventional print publication is no longer appropriate. Luckily, the very modern technology that makes an updated edition necessary supports a format that will make future revisions and modifications timely and cost-efficient. The ADE proposes a coordinated print and Web-based format to better serve the Guide’s widening audience.
