LYRASIS Regional Preservation Field Services Project

A regional preservation field service program that provides preservation surveys, workshops, and educational materials to libraries, archives, and historical organizations in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Rocky Mountain and Western Plains regions, as well as U.S. jurisdictions in the Caribbean, reaching up to 300,000 individuals.

LYRASIS proposes to provide education and training, reference and information services, and consultations to libraries, archives, and cultural heritage organizations to improve their ability to preserve and provide access to humanities collections. These institutions hold extensive and valuable collections acquired over many years to support education, research, and public programming in the humanities. Through this project, LYRASIS will increase preservation knowledge and skills among staff at cultural heritage organizations, provide support for effective preservation planning and management, and strengthen local and regional preservation networks. The project also includes a series of hybrid face-to-face and web-based town hall meetings to foster discussion and collaboration on the issues and challenges of preserving humanities collections.
