Development of a long-range preservation plan to guide the care of collections at the Frelinghuysen Morris House and Studio, which was home to abstract artists George L.K. Morris (1905-1975) and Suzy Frelinghuysen (1911-1988). The collection includes their own art as well as works by such artists as Braque, Matisse, Arp, Leger, and Gris, along with extensive archival materials and household furnishings.

The Frelinghuysen Morris House and Studio (a.k.a. Frelinghuysen Morris Foundation) is requesting a Preservation Assistance Grant for $5,000 to hire a consultant to create a long-term preservation plan for this institution's collections of art, architecture, and archives, all of which pertain to the modern era of American art of the 1930s and 1940s. The special nature of these collections includes fresco murals executed within the historic building, Cubist master paintings, and those of the artists' contemporaries in the American Abstract Artist's Association, and archival photos writings, letters, and other materials. The consultant will examine existing CAP reports for the architecture and the collection as well as additional reports from APTNE and other conservators. Her report provides a "road map" that will evaluate conservation areas, help prioritize initiatives and create goals for future funding from outside sources.
