The collection includes numerous civil war records and personal manuscript collections reflecting the activities of the 16th Regiment, New York Volunteers. Among additional holdings are the records of the Northern New York Institute for the Deaf-Mute, 1895-1920.
The Franklin County Historical and Museum Society seeks to relocate its two-dimensional collection from storage and public-access library areas that do not meet current archival best-practice standards to new storage and library areas that provide proper care and safe access. The project is based on the recommendations of a conservator of the Northeast Document Conservation Center. This project will require the purchase of new storage furniture and preservation supplies. By improving the way the society physically cares for its collection, we will be fulfilling a key portion of our strategic plan as well as maintaining the public trust. |
