Hiring a consultant to conduct general preservation and management assessments of tools, ceramics, and other ethnographic objects, field records, photographs, and other records associated with archaeological research sites in the United States and around the world. The major part of the collection consists of artifacts and supporting materials from sites in Texas.

A museum preservation consultant will be hired to conduct a General Preservation Planning Survey at the TAMU Anthropology Repository. The proposed preservation planning survey report will focus on: 1) an on-site assessment of the status of the collections in the planning area and the factors that affect the resources and their preservation; 2) describing the heritage collections in the planning area addressing preservation needs, critical issues, threats, and opportunities facing those resources; 3) recommending physical building improvements including short-term improvements to existing storage space, equipment, and conditions; 4) recommending long-term plans (floor plans, equipment plans and environmental parameters) for future building improvements to house collections; 5) establishing clear goal statements and guidance for implementation of the plan; and 6) defining a specific and explicitly stated time frame to implement the plan.
