The collections include photographs; maps; and records of local businesses, individuals, and government entities, as well as 35,000 objects of Native American material culture, agricultural and industrial artifacts, household furnishings, textiles, and costumes.
The Fort Collins Museum (FCM) and Discovery Science Center (DSC) are merging, creating the unique opportunity to build a new museum facility from the ground up. The FCM seeks support for the development of a Preliminary Move Plan in preparation for moving the FCM's object collections and Local History Archive. If awarded, the FCM would use the grant funds to hire a consultant to work with staff to: identify and recommend object conservation needs; develop and recommend temporary housing strategies for objects prior to the move; identify systems to assist the staff in moving the collection; identify additional staffing needs; identify and recommend additional collections storage needs; identify and recommend environmental needs in the Collections Storage Area of the new facility; and assist with other needs as they arise. The budget for this project is $5,711. |
