The primary purpose of the proposed project is to expand archive storage and rehouse significant portions of two important collections: the Adirondack Museum's historic photo collection and internal institutional documents. The historic photo collection is the largest and most important collection of Adirondack-related photographs. The museum's internal archives represent more than 55 years of operational records and correspondence, maps and surveys of the museum's land holdings, architectural drawings, guest/visitor registries, and documentary photographs. These two important collections are stored in areas currently overcrowded and not easily accessible. By reconfiguring current storage spaces, adding a new storage area, and purchasing new cabinets, both collections will be more accessible and better protected from destructive elements. |
