Spanish Colonial Heritage Material
To support conserving, cataloging, and rehousing archaeological collections related to Spanish Colonial America.
Project to rehabilitate and better docuement the collections recovered from excavations at two Spanish Colonial Missions (Mission San Juan Capistrano and Mission San Francisco de la Espada) by halting deterioration and stabilizing the materials and records by relabeling specimens, reconstructing vessels, replacing bags and tags, transfering records to acid-free media, and placing the materials and records in archivally stable containers. An inventory of materials will be entered into a repository-wide computerized accession system which will be placed on the Internet to be available to all interested researchers.
