Production of a ninety-minute documentary film chronicling the life, work, and cultural impact of Laura Ingalls Wilder (1867–1957).

Twin City Public Television (TPT) is pleased to submit this proposal for Laura Ingalls Wilder: Prairie Legend (w.t.). The film will detail the journey and legacy of one of this nation’s most popular and influential writers in a 90-minute biographical profile. Best known for her Little House novels, Wilder’s work is among the most beloved children’s literature of all time. Since their publication began more than eighty years ago, the nine autobiographical novels detailing her girlhood on the American frontier have become a literary and cultural phenomenon. She transformed her pioneer childhood into a series of beloved children’s books, and by fictionalizing her own past, she changed the way we think about ours. Laura Ingalls Wilder: Prairie Legend (w.t.) will air nationally on PBS as part of WNET’s American Masters series, reaching approximately 98% of the country across the PBS network.
