Production of a 90-minute documentary for public television examining languages in danger of extinction around the world.
"Listen UP! Languages in Danger with Bob Holman" explores a global crisis of which few people are aware: half of the world's nearly 7000 languages are in danger of disappearing within the coming century, and hundreds will be lost within the next generation. The program examines why languages are disappearing, what is being lost, and what is being done to document and revitalize them.
