Production of three one-hour radio documentaries that would explore the influence of Shakespeare's work on American civic, political, and cultural life.

The Folger Shakespeare Library is partnering with award-winning independent radio producer Richard Paul to produce "Shakespeare in American Life," three one-hour radio documentaries exploring the influence of William Shakespeare’s works on American civic, political, and cultural life and narrated by renowned actor Sam Waterston. The three parts can be broadcast as a series, or each as a single documentary. The documentaries will be distributed by Public Radio International (PRI) to its 726 affiliates, and more than 50 public radio stations have already expressed interest in carrying the programs. The documentaries will be complemented by a comprehensive website housed on www.folger.edu, which will feature educational activities including lesson plans for K-12 teachers, and interactive games and learning activities for families. This 2007 project will mark the Folger’s 75th anniversary as a world-class research center on Shakespeare and early modern England.
