Sparking Humanities Conversations through Context and Connections in Rural Utah

Program enhancements from one-shot programs to more extensive and engaged learning experiences that include pre- and post-lecture activities.

Having served rural Utah for 20 years, the Entrada Institute has a proven record as an educational center focusing on the cultural heritage of the Colorado Plateau with an emphasis on hosting multiple-perspectives on topics related to the human experience. Entrada is in a unique position to serve three very different audiences: tourists, well-educated retirees, and the traditional, local community. The focus of this grant is to provide enhanced programming for our local, economically disadvantaged and youth population. Our Sparking Humanities initiative takes an innovative approach to programming by offering pre- and post-event activities that engage youth and their families with meaningful humanities contexts, content, and connections that explore the artifacts, people, and cultural, traditional and natural resources of the Colorado Plateau where they live. We request a $50,000 term endowment to enhance our programming for disadvantaged rural youth and their families.
