Beyond the Beat, an educational program that provides youth with the musicological training and technology necessary to produce short radio documentary programs exploring individual pieces of music.

Through the Beyond the Beat radio documentary project, Spy Hop’s Loud and Clear Audio students will create 60, three-minute radio documentaries examining the social, political and cultural context surrounding the inspiration for and creation of a specific piece of music. Under the guidance of a musicologist from Weber State University and Spy Hop media arts mentors, students will be asked to research, write and produce a complete mini-doc, which will be distributed weekly via the project radio partner, KRCL 90.9, reaching 100,000+ listeners throughout the project.
