PI will focus on the early 18th century conflict between the Habsburg, Romanov, Vasa and Ottoman sovereigns and the aristocratic elites of Hungary, Ukraine, Livonia, and Moldavia. With NEH funds, PI will complete a case study analyzing Peter I's establishment in 1722 of the "Little Russian Collegium," the first agency of direct Russian imperial rule in the Ukraine.
