Abstract: The Albert Hourani Book Award was established in 1991 to recognize outstanding publishing in Middle East studies. The award was named for Albert Hourani to recognize his long and distinguished career as teacher and mentor. Announced at the Awards Ceremony at MESA’s annual meeting, the Albert Hourani Book Award recognizes the very best in Middle East studies scholarship. It is competitive with a field this year of 110 monographs.

Abstract: An annual prize awarded to the most outstanding book in the field of Ottoman and Turkish studies published in the previous year, sponsored by the Ottoman and Turkish Studies Association with the generous support of the M. Münir Ertegün Foundation. Nominations may be made by the author, colleagues, publisher, or friends. Translated books, edited volumes, fiction, and textbooks are not eligible. English and Turkish are the preferred languages of submission.
