This toolkit prepares teachers for a visit to the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum. Topics covered include European Jewish life before the Holocaust, the history of antisemitism, the rise of Nazism, the start of WWII, the Final Solution (mass murders of Jews), concentration camps, Jewish life after the war, Nazi collaborators, resisters, liberators, victims, survivors and choiceless choices, and survivor testimonies.

The Institute funds programs of educational and artistic merit that do one or more of the following: explore the history and legacy of the Holocaust; use the lessons of the Holocaust to examine subjects of ethical, social, and political importance; facilitate dialogue between people of different ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds; combat antisemitism, racism, and discrimination based on disability, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or age.

For the art contest, students may create a sculpture, drawing, photograph, painting, poster, collage, or five-minute video. The work will be judged on creativity, excellence, and content.
