Title: Singing for the Congregation: New Models for Church Choirs
Abstract: This workshop provides a series of new models—and a few old ones—for rejuvenating parish choirs and music ensembles, particularly for small or rural parishes with limited resources. Ideas and examples will be drawn from the English West Gallery tradition, contemporary British community gospel choirs, and from The InHarmony Report (2018) conducted by the rural Diocese of St. Edmundsbury and Ipswich (Suffolk, UK). Workshop attendees will be asked to make a joyful noise; tuneful singing is encouraged but not required.
