Abstract: Founded in 1997 through a partnership between the City of Unalaska, the Ounalashka Corporation, the Qawalangin Tribe, and the Aleut Corporation, the Museum of the Aleutians (MOTA) works to collect, preserve, and share the cultural history and prehistory of the Aleutian Islands region. Curating an actively growing Unangan, Russian-American, WWII, and local art collection, MOTA serves multicultural and multigenerational audiences, both locally and internationally.

Abstract: As the Covid-19 pandemic closed our doors in March 2020, we realized we needed a digtal outlet to bring our content to the wider world; and so Digital Aleutians was born. This site will not only host a digitized selection of our archaeological collections but will also be portal through which our online projects and exhibitions can be reached. This site is brought to you through the National Endowment of the Humanities CARES grant and through the support of our corporate sponsers: The Citizens of the City of Unalaska, the Ounalashka Corporation, the Aleut Corporation, Unisea, Rapp Marine, Matson, and Aleutian Chiropractic Health Center.
