To support a grant program conducted by the Michigan Humanities Council that invites proposals for projects focused on important issues and events in both Michigan's and the United State's history and culture.

The Michigan Humanities Council will preserve and expand its previous We the People grant program: 1) by having a theme-based call for grant proposals that examines events and themes in Michigan/American history and culture that will encompass all aspects of work; 2) by combining the Council's major grant program with its We the People funding so that additional WTP programs will be presented to communities throughout the state.
