To support public humanities programs and regrants in American history and culture, traveling exhibitions, reading and discussion programs, and the quarterly journal Louisiana Cultural Vistas.

In this sixth We the People proposal, the LEH will continue its efforts to explore the points of convergence in the historical narratives of the United States as a whole, and of Louisiana as a distinctive component of that union. Through We the People-supported, scholar-led public humanities programs including council regrants; Museum on Main Street projects; reading and discussion programs; and the quarterly journal Louisiana Cultural Vistas, the LEH intends to involve thousands of Louisiana residents in a probing and ongoing conversation about Louisiana?s contributions to American culture ? and how, inversely, the march of American history shaped Louisiana.
