To support collabation with public humanities groups to facilitate and conduct programs around the general theme of Ha'i Mo'olelo ("to tell our stories") in order to highlight and focus on "Bridging Cultures." The programs will include public programs, K-12 teacher and curriculum development, and greater use of media to heighten visibility of this programming.
The Hawai'i Council for the Humanities (HCH) will conduct a series of partnership agreements for the general public, K-12 school teachers, and media visibility and dialogue. These will be focussed on historical and cultural traditions focussed around the theme of "Bridging Cultures." The Council plans to initiate and facilitate 4-7 programs for K-12 teachers, including workshops and institutes, 6-12 public programs, ranging from mini-grants to larger projects, and 4-6 media partnerships with radio, television and internet based groups. The Council will also use some funds to support related activities in its primary council-conducted programs: Hawai'i History Day, Literature and Medicine, and Motheread Hawai'i.
