Endowment and bridge funding for curricular innovation, graduate fellowships, internships, and scholarly visitors in a multidisciplinary graduate program.
Bryn Mawr's Graduate Group in Archaeology, Classics, and History of Art, created in 2001, pools the strengths of three internationally recognized Ph.D.-granting departments to offer tri-disciplinary study of the classical tradition from prehistory through post-modern critique. The College requests an NEH Challenge Grant of $441,600 to be matched 4:1 ($1,766,400) to endow tri-departmental seminars, fellowships, internships, and visiting scholars for the Graduate Group, so that it may realize its mission of training educators in the humanities with the requisite inter/disciplinary depth and breadth to preserve and interpret the material and literary record of the Western tradition for the future.
